There is so much to see and do around here but --- for me and the coyote, it was time to head home.
The day after the Bobcat made her appearance in the campground this guy showed up to check things out. This little guy would not have stood a chance against her.
They were sleeping in the overhead bunk when the Bobcat was in the area. It would have been interesting to see their reaction had they seen her.
This shot gives some perspective as to how big she is and is, regretably, the last picture. The whole experience of seeing and capturing her digitally is one that I'll remember for a long time to come; I feel quite fortunate to have been in position to get the shots.
I had stepped out side the motor-home as quietly as I could and yet she saw me and kept up her leisurely pace of moving away. No fear of me at all it seemed.
Just sauntering by shaking her ass.
Don't mess with me...I am NOT a housecat...I WILL mess you up. :0) She is quite a bit bigger than a Cocker Spaniel. Absolutely magnificent!!! At this point she was only about 5 feet from the front end of the motor-home.
She is looking right at me and still keeps coming. How exciting! This is only the second bobcat I've ever seen in the wild and she is a lot bigger than the other one I saw about ten miles from here last year.

Here she comes

You can see what a big girl she is and mighty confident as well. No one was moving around in the campground so she just strolled in like she owned the joint.

Bobcat

I was inside reading when I noticed her padding along right towards me. I made a mad scramble for the camera and started taking pictures through the windshield. Here she is a big bobcat right in front of my motor-home just looking around making sure it's safe to come out. What a thrill as she was completely oblivious of me moving around inside.

Chief Tecopa's house

Chief Tecopa's house was dug into the side of the cliff in soft sandstone. It is much cooler in summer and warmer in winter making it a crude but very effective place to live.

About Me

I am twice retired. Once from the Navy after 21 years of service and a second time from the world of Defense Contracting. I enjoy traveling in my red Lazy Daze motor home with my two orange tabbies...Flash and Gordon.
